OAK CREST ESTATES RESIDENTS
The Oak Crest Board of Trustees and employees wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
The Oak Crest office will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
We would like to offer some shopping safety tips, as provided by the Township of Hamilton Police Department:

Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year drawing thousands of shoppers to our stores. One thing shoppers may have overlooked is a safety plan for the shopping extravaganza. The Township of Hamilton Police will have extra officers posted at our many stores to help alleviate any problems and ensure the safety of the public. Below is a list of some safety tips you should keep in mind:

1) Don’t buy more items than you can carry. Plan ahead by taking a friend or ask a store employee to help carry your packages to the car.

2) Save all receipts. Start a file folder to keep all receipts together and to help you verify credit card or bank statements as they come in.

3) Consider alternate options to pay for your merchandise, such as one-time or multi-use disposable credit cards or money orders, at online stores and auction sites.

4) Do not carry large amounts of cash. If possible, carry just one credit card for your purchase in case your wallet or purse gets stolen. That way you only have one credit card to cancel.

5) Wait until asked before taking out your credit card or checkbook. An enterprising thief would love to look over your shoulder to get your account information.

6) Deter pickpockets. Carry your purse close to your body or your wallet inside a coat or front trouser pocket.

7) Have your keys in hand when approaching your vehicle. Check the back seat and around the car before getting in.

8) Do not leave packages visible in your car windows. Lock them in the trunk or, if possible, take them directly home.

9) If you are shopping with children, make a plan in case you get separated. Select a central meeting place and make sure they know they can ask a police officer or store security employees if they need help.

If at any time you see a person acting suspiciously or a suspicious package you should contact police or store security immediately.

Oak Crest Estates and the Township of Hamilton Police Department wish everyone a
Happy Thanksgiving and an enjoyable shopping experience this holiday season.
